Benefits of going electric

The environment will benefit from zero emissions and you'll save to. Benefit from lower maintenance and running costs, plus tax saving benefits. Win win.

Cheaper to run

Because electricity is cheaper than petrol or diesel, your journey could cost less than a third of what it would in a combustion engine car. Battery-electric vehicles can also travel for free in the UK’s new Clean Air Zones and London’s Congestion Zone.

There are tax incentives too, company car drivers are subject to lower company car BIK tax. Which for battery-electric cars is 2% in 2023/24.

Zero Emissions

An electric vehicle doesn’t have a tailpipe, which means no exhaust emissions. This helps improve air quality, particularly in urban areas.

Lower maintenance costs

Petrol and diesel engines are incredibly complex and have hundreds of components that can wear, fail and need replacing. Electric cars on the other hand have just three main components and far fewer moving parts than a combustion engine. That means servicing and maintenance is simpler and cheaper, which saves you money.

Charging at home

Imagine waking up every day with a ‘full tank’. Just plug in when you get home, and your car takes care of the rest.

Charging your electric vehicle at home is just like charging your mobile phone. You’ll find you do most of your charging at home overnight or in the evening when you’ve finished driving for the day. Just plug in overnight and the vehicle will stop charging and using electricity once it reaches full charge.

You can charge your electric vehicle at home using a standard three-pin plug socket. But the quickest way is with a home charging wallbox.

How does a Plug-In Hybrid work?

A PHEV works in a similar way to a Self-Charging Hybrid, there is a petrol engine combined with an electric motor and a battery. In a Plug-in Hybrid, the battery is much larger than in a Self-Charging Hybrid. This means the car is able to travel around 30 miles on battery power alone, more than enough for the UK average daily commute - but it can also call on the petrol engine for longer trips.

Like a Self-Charging Hybrid, the battery can be charged whilst driving, but for the full benefit, you will need to plug in. Charging a PHEV should take less than three hours. Put this all together and you can enjoy miles of low-cost, all-electric driving while still having a petrol engine for those rare long distance trips. Perfect.

Relaxing drive

The assistance from the electric motor means the engine doesn’t have to work as hard and that makes for a quieter journey. The added torque also means effortless acceleration for a more relaxing driving experience. Enjoy the performance of two combined power sources funnelled through an automatic or dual-clutch gearbox. The system automatically changes gears swiftly and seamlessly for maximum driving enjoyment.

What is an Electric Vehicle?

Kia electric vehicles, or EVs, run solely on electricity. This offers quiet operation, zero tailgate emissions and breath-taking performance.

Electric vehicle technology has come on leaps and bounds. With technologies like our e-GMP platform, EVs can go long distances and charge in a matter of minutes thanks to a fast-expanding and easy-to-access network of public charging stations.

A battery electric vehicle is better for the environment than a petrol or diesel car, cheaper to run, and simple to own.

Electric Car Public Charging Stations

Electric cars are often charged at home, but it's important you're able to charge on the go in a convenient and fast way. The Kia Charge app gives you access to most UK and European public charging networks in one, convenient solution.

From planning your trips to paying for charging, Kia Charge is the only app and card you need. Charging on the go has never been easier. Quick & easy access to over 586,000 stations including 42,200 in the UK.

With Kia Charge, you can locate stations and access all necessary information like pricing and availability with confidence. Exclusive to Kia customers - it lets you enjoy unparalleled value and convenience when charging with IONITY Power subscription.

Car Tax Benefits

Congestion Charge

Electric cars are also exempt to congestion charges, a payment enforced for cars when entering a Clean-Air Zone (CAZ). These are currently in place in London, Birmingham and Oxford, with more planned across other UK cities.

Capital Allowance

Businesses using company electric cars are also entitled to 100% first year capital allowances, meaning you can deduct the entire expenditure for your car from your profits before tax. This could provide huge amounts of tax relief in the first year, making EVs an ideal option as company cars.

EV Charging

When it comes to EV charging, there is a saving to be made for companies with electric cars. Company electric car tax does not include fuel duty, as it normally would for petrol or diesel cars, because electricity isn’t classed as fuel.

Frequently Asked Questions

It’ll depend on your electricity tariff, but some electricity suppliers offer special tariffs that give customers a lower electricity cost when charging their electric vehicles overnight.

So it’s worth shopping around and seeing what the best tariff for you might be.

For millions of potential electric vehicle drivers, a lack of on-street charging is preventing them from accessing the most affordable and convenient way of charging an electric vehicle.

Generally, rapid chargers will be the most expensive way of charging in public. However, that’s still cheaper than filling up a full tank of petrol or diesel. So even at the most expensive public charge-points, you’re still saving on running costs when you switch to electric.

Some public fast chargers will be free, so you’ll quickly find your preferred public charging locations in your local area. And your Vauxhall electric vehicle will be compatible with all common public charge-points, so you won’t need to buy any additional charging equipment to charge in public.

When you’re charging at home, you’ll get the same charging speed every time. But in public, different charging points will have different speeds. You’ll find two types of chargers in public charge-points: fast chargers, and rapid chargers.

Electric vehicles are powered purely by rechargeable batteries. They do not rely on petrol or diesel. The batteries control the electric motors which then power the wheels. The battery can then be charged via a wall socket (at home) or dedicated charging point (found at multiple locations).

Yes! Almost silent, due to the absence of a gas-powered engine. In fact, some electric cars make an artifical noise, so that they don't go unnoticed by pedestrians.

At lightning speed! Well, not quite... electric cars don't use a traditional gearbox, so the torque produced by the electric motors can see EVs reach from 0-60mph in under 3 seconds.

Most EVs in the market average 200 miles between charges, with some models boasting a range of nearly 300 miles.

Electric cars are just as durable as their petrol or diesel counterparts. The expected life expectancy of modern EVs is 15-20 years, or 200,000 miles - the same as traditional fuel vehicles.

EVs are environmentally friendly in many ways. They don't emit carbon emissions like traditional fuel cars and they create very little noise pollution.

Electric cars are as safe to drive as traditional fuel vehicles.

A PHEV operates by both electric battery and traditional fuel. The car will usually run on electric power until the battery is depleted, then it will switch over to traditional fuel for the remainder of the journey. A BEV is only fueled by the electric battery.

EVs are cheaper to run due to lower running costs, cheaper to maintain due to less mechanical parts and, lower company car tax, government grants, free charging stations and they’re better for the environment.

Electric vehicles are naturally more reliable than their traditional fuel counterparts, due to there being less mechanical parts to go wrong. Irrespective of manufacturer warranty for your car, your battery comes with an 8 year warranty.

All new batteries are under warranty for 8 years. However there are a number of factors that can affect battery lifespan such as temperature and overcharging.

This will depend on the manufacturer warranty as well as the usage – on average most batteries will be replaced every 5-8 years. The batteries can then be sent for recycling.

You can charge an electric car at your home or at a public charging station. If you need to find a charging station, you can find them here: https://www.zap-map.com/

Charging times can depend on both th battery size and the charging point. Slow Charger (up to 3kw), Fast chargers (7-22kw), Rapid chargers (43-120kw), Super chargers (150kw).

Some public charging stations are free to use, however the rapid chargers available at service stations and the like are usually chargable. You can subscribe to charging services nationwide for even better value charging.

A typical electric car (60kw battery/200 mile range) will cost you around £9 to charge at home, most work places that have installed electric chargers will offer free charging as will public charge points at supermarkets/car parks. Rapid charging points will usually cost under £10 for a 30 min charge (100 mile range) and will most commonly be found at motorway service stations.

No, most EVs will be supplied with 2 charging cables. A mode 2 charging cable which is used for connecting your car to an ordinary domestic socket (3 pin plug) for at-home charging, and a Mode 3 charging cable which will connect your car to the charging station.

Electric All In provides 8 years of roadside support for breakdowns, punctures, and emergencies. If repairs aren’t possible on-site, towing to the nearest Vauxhall repairer is included, with options for a courtesy vehicle or hotel accommodation if needed. The 8 years roadside assisstance is on the car not the owner, so its transferable if you decide to sell the car.

Electric All In offers 8 years of mobile charging assistance, covering up to 3 assistance calls per year. If your battery runs out, on-site recharging or towing to a nearby charging station (within 50m) will keep you on the road.
